STAIND, GODSMACK, AEROSMITH Big Winners At Boston Music Awards

April 14, 2002

GODSMACK, STAIND, and AEROSMITH received two trophies each at this year's Boston Music Awards, which were held on Thursday, April 11th at the Orpheum. STAIND took home award for Act Of The Year, and nabbed the Single Of The Year prize for "It's Been Awhile". Meanwhile, GODSMACK received the Rock Band award, and their singer, Sully Erna, was named Male Vocalist of the Year. AEROSMITH got the nod for Album Of The Year for Just Push Play and Video Of The Year for "Jaded". Other winners included former VAN HALEN/EXTREME frontman Gary Cherone's TRIBE OF JUDAH (for New Rock Band On An Indie Label),REVEILLE and AMERICAN HI-FI.

According to the Boston Globe, Cheronelooked a bit ridiculous during a song the band performed. He wore a long-sleeve shirt but it was cut away just below the neck, so only the cat-like sleeves remained. 'What, does he think he's Freddie Mercury?' one patron next to me said. It never helps when a singer's outfit makes more of an impression than the song, but that was the case here.
